Eat First You Don't Know What They'll Give You Sonia Pressman Fuentes 9780738806358 Books Reviews
- I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the author's talk at a recent AAUW meeting. She is a good storyteller with plenty of humor. As a longtime feminist, I e noted hearing about her part in NOW. Infringed to that organization. I especially enjoyed hearing about her childhood with her eccentric parents. The book needs a good proofreader to correct all the run together words.
- Since I am personally acquainted with the author it is difficult to be impartial. I read the book shortly after meeting her for the first time and found it both amusing and fascinating. This woman is a legend in her own time. She has truly made her mark on this world and all women my daughter's age (45) have better working conditions because of Ms. Fuentes!
- I belong to the UN Women organization which has a book Club. Sonia Fuentes, author of this book, was ask to speak
at the meeting in which we discussed Eat First. She is an amazing woman and her life has had many twists and turns.
However, those twists and turns have made her a powerful advocate for women. She had seen many changes in her life
in attitudes toward women and she continues to affect change. I hope many women will read her book! - I was somewhat disappointed with the book. I mostly bought the book to hear more about her family and their influences on her. Sonia is my cousin and it's been a lifetime ago since I've seen her and have very fond memories of her brother and his family who I met several times when I was growing up.
- This is an interesting group of short stories written by Fuentes. They cover a wide range of family vignettes. Light reading and very enjoyable. I did find it a little disjointed because they have been printed previous in magazines, therefore they are not in a strick sequence.
However the warmth of her family certainly come through. I would like to read other pieces from this interesting author. - I know Sonya personally so reading her life story was amazing. She's a brave woman.
- Sonia Pressman Fuentes, a great Jewish-American feminist, shares vignettes from her life that will make you laugh and cry, but most of all will inspire you to make the most out of whatever obstacles life throws in your way. Relying on her sense of humor, intelligence, fierce determination, and remarkable resilience, she injected herself into situations that others might shy away from, always looking ahead, making her own world and ours a better place.
- Having known the author of 70 years, this biography was especially interesting and enjoyable.
